US Air Conditioning Distributors, Inc. was incorporated in July of 1990 when long time Carrier employees John Staples and John Scarsi purchased the distributorship and began operations as Southern California Air Conditioning Distributors. The company was formerly owned by Carrier Corporation and was called Carrier Los Angeles. It was the largest wholly owned branch of Carrier in the United States. The number of employees totaled 140 and sales were estimated at $75 million. The Carrier Los Angeles branch only distributed Carrier brand products and had seven branch locations.

US Air Conditioning Distributors, headquartered in City of Industry has opened a new parts and supplies branch in Paso Robles, CA. It includes approximately 12,000 SQFT of indoor warehouse, a 1,500SQFT showroom and two delivery trucks. The new parts and supplies location located at 495 Marquita Ave. Paso Robles, CA 93446 opened for business on June 15th 2010. According to Parts Manager Cesar Aburto an open house was held for customers on June 24th 2010 to show off the new expanded parts and supplies branch.

This error leaves a hole in the mercury recycling and collection effort. HVAC contactors know it's wrong to throw away old thermostats containing mercury, but did not know it was wrong to cut and save the glass mercury bulbs out of thermostats. On behalf of HVAC contractors, USACD investigated and discovered if you are an HVAC contractor that has been collecting mercury in loose glass bulbs, you will need to contact your local waste management company and ask for your local "Small quantity hazardous waste generator program".

US Air Conditioning, headquartered in the City of Industry, received an Honorable Mention in the Infinity Arrow Award category for Service and Take-Back. Applicants in the Infinity Arrow Award category must demonstrate that they have developed an outstanding "take-back" program for one or more products that the company manufactures. U.S. Air Conditioning voluntarily developed a "cash for clunkers" stewardship program for collecting and recycling out-of-service mercury thermostats.
