Dr. Rosenberg's love for ophthalmology is virtually hereditary since both her father and brother are eye surgeons. Her curiosity about how living systems work began as a child. "I used to 'operate' on my pet goldfish using my father's retired surgical instruments!" After receiving her BA from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Rosenberg attended medical school at Rush Medical College. She moved to St. Louis where she completed her residency at Washington University, and then returned to Chicago for subspecialty training in glaucoma at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. Dr. Rosenberg joined the full-time faculty at Northwestern where she achieved the rank of Clinical Associate Professor. Her research interests include investigations of novel medical, laser and surgical treatments for glaucoma. She is nationally renowned as a surgical textbook author, a contributor of over 35 publications and book chapters, and a popular lecturer. As a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, she is a member of the Leadership Task Force, the Basic and Clinical Science Course for residents and clinicians, and the Preferred Practice Pattern committee for Glaucoma management. Dr. Rosenberg has distinguished herself locally as President of the Chicago Ophthalmological Society, and as the founding President of the Chicago Glaucoma Society. She is honored by awards for excellence in teaching and the Heed Prize for subspecialty training. He interned at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in general medicine followed by Ophthalmology training at the University of California and University of Illinois. This, in turn, led to glaucoma fellowship training at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Ruderman has been an active member of the Northwestern University academic community for more than 25 years. He is an Associate Professor and has participated in the medical education and training of medical students, residents, fellows and colleagues. He is the recipient of the award for outstanding research at the University of Illinois and the Heed Fellowship. Dr. Ruderman has participated in community outreach and screening programs which provide care to the needy in the Chicago area.
