H1N1 Flu: Important Information for the University Community NOVEMBER 2009 — There are no changes to University of Rochester operations or activities because of public concern worldwide about novel H1N1 influenza. University officials and emergency operations committees have plans and procedures in place to deal with the potential for the spread of H1N1 flu this fall. When can I get a flu shot? Seasonal flu vaccine clinics for students held by University Health Service have ended. Students with chronic medical illnesses (e.g., asthma, diabetes, chronic lung conditions) can call UHS (585-275-2662) to schedule an appointment for a seasonal flu shot. Seasonal flu vaccine clinics for university staff will be offered in November. See the Well-U website for an update schedule. UHS is anticipating scheduling H1N1 flu vaccine clinics in mid-to-late November at the earliest. The timing will depend on the availability of the vaccine. AlertUR www.rochester.edu/alertur The University's emergency notification system allows for the mass dissemination of critical information via voice, text, and e-mail to undergraduate students during a major emergency. If you are an undergraduate in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering or the Eastman School of Music, you can input or edit your contact information in the AlertUR system. (NOTE: Text messages will be delivered more quickly than voice messages.) Phase I is operating for all undergraduates and will be expanded to others in the University community. Phase II is under development for graduate students, faculty, and staff. What can you do?
