Description

The newest school at the University of Virginia, the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy trains students for public service careers in both domestic and international arenas. Graduates of the School will assume leadership positions in government, in the non-profit sector, in consulting firms, and in selected private sector firms. The Batten School offers a state-of-the-art instructional program in policy analysis together with a unique emphasis on leadership skills and professional development. The teaching faculty includes distinguished economists, political scientists, lawyers, historians, and ethicists as well as practitioners who bring real-world experiences to the classroom. The Batten School is made possible by a generous $100 million endowment gift from retired media executive Frank Batten, Sr. The Batten School currently only offers a five-year bachelors/ master of public policy (MPP) degree program for current U.VA. undergraduates from all majors. In the future, the Batten School will develop other degree programs that will be open to outside applicants. Read more. The entire Batten School community mourns the loss of Frank Batten . Mr. Batten was more than an extremely generous benefactor. He was also our inspiration: committed to the principle that our graduate should not only contribute solutions to the most challenging issues facing our society in a globalized world, but also become enlightened, ethical, and effective participants in public life. All of us at the Batten School are dedicated to achieving that vision. He was a great man, who will be sorely missed. The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy will be conducting several faculty searches this academic year. The following are current open faculty positions posted at Jobs@UVA .
