W o u n d S t i c k ® M e a s u r i n g S y s t e m The WoundStick ® Measuring System provides a method to accurately measure, document and monitor changes in all types of wounds. Accurate measurements, documentation and monitoring provides valuable information regarding the future direction of all wounds. This information is invaluable. It is the only way to determine the effectiveness of various treatment approaches. It is the only way to evaluate the success of the changes in diet, the dressings, the turning and the equipment used, such as low air loss beds, air or water mattresses. It is the only way to determine if the wound is breaking down or if it is healing. Accurate measurements provide the facts that can force changes in the treatment approaches. These changes are important in the wound healing process. These measurement facts are so important they should be billed as part of the wound healing procedure. They can save time, money and healing time for the patient. The recommended billing charges will vary depending on the detail of the wound measurements provided with the WoundStick ® Measuring System. WIDTH, LENGTH and DEPTH of a WOUND If you want to know the present width and length of a small wound, use the 10cm WoundStick ® (WS10). For the width and length of a large wound, use the 20cm WoundStick ® (WS20). In order to determine the depth of the small or large wound use the DermaLevel © with the WS10 or the WS20. BODY MEASURING TAPES Head To Heel Measuring Tapes determine the height of contracted or sitting patient. Prevents cross contamination. The Body Tape is used to measure all parts of the body including edema, scars and post operative wounds. Body Tapes are used to measure surgical supports and prevent cross contamination. They are available in sterile and non-sterile packaging. Baby Tape Measure's a baby's height, head circumference and body parts. Use to measure pregnant women and prevents cross contamination. PHOTOGRAPHING A WOUND To photograph a wound and show the location, width, length, and depth of the wound in the photograph, the WS10 or @W20 are designed to "stand out" in a photograph. If you want to also show pertinent facts about the wound in the photograph, just add the PhotoFacts ™ product to either the WS10 or WS20. The WoundStick ® Measuring System is designed to give meaning, understanding and true perception to a wound photo. It provides accurate information about the location, the width, the length, the depth, lab details and even the undermining that exist in a particular wound. It makes the photograph a true picture of the wound as it is, where it is and how the wound is expected to progress or breakdown. MEASURING and DOCUMENTING UNDERMINING Another important part evaluating the wound is measuring the undermined areas of a wound. "The WoundStick ® Tunneler is our favorite product", says Ian Aman, PT of Vencor-Oaks at Avon, PT, "We have used it for the last year and a half. It is not as messy as the cellophane product and we find it to be more accurate. It's especially good for depth ... before using the Tunneler, we had to use the Q-tip...
