This informal session will update you on the state process and offer suggestions for localities to get ready for the next round. -Virginia’s New Workplace Readiness Skills [ view the presentation (9MB)] Dr. Achsah Carrier, Research Associate, Demographics and Workforce Group, Weldon Cooper Center, University of Virginia Peggy Watson, Administrative Coordinator, CTE Resource Center A new set of Workplace Readiness Skills is being introduced to the CTE curriculum this year. This presentation will introduce you to the new skills and will explain the reasons for the process of the revision, the changes themselves (including information on how to teach and evaluate your students on the new skills), and the forthcoming assessment. -High School Students Become Entrepreneurs Rhonda Doak, Supervisor, Business and Information Technology, Virginia Beach Sara Lockett, Business and Information Technology Teacher, Virginia Beach Virtual Enterprise is a project-based simulation. Students learn financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and business management skills while operating their own company. -Virginia CTE Goes Green: Sustainability Curriculum in Development [ view the presentation (4.5MB)] Angela Whittaker, Renewable Technology Teacher, CTE, Cumberland “Sustainability and Renewable Technology” is being piloted in Cumberland County this year and will be offered statewide next fall.
