Avery Dennison ( AVY ), based in Glendale California, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of labeling and packaging materials and solutions. It was incorporated in 1977 in Delaware as Avery International Corporation and became Avery Dennison in 1990, when it merged with Dennison Manufacturing Company. With operations in over 50 countries, it has a strong global presence. In 2013, international operations contributed toward 75% of its revenues.

International Flavors and Fragrances is a leading manufacturer of flavor and fragrance chemicals sold to consumer products manufacturers worldwide. Particularly, these products are used in such items as perfumes, prepared foods, pharmaceuticals, beverages, and detergents. The Fragrances division accounted for about 52% of the company’s total sales in 2013, and the Flavors unit was 48%. Overseas businesses generated some 77% of sales.

Agrium Inc. is a leading producer and marketer of nitrogen fertilizer and potash. It supplies agricultural products and services in North and South America, as well as Australia. The company is headquartered in Calgary, Canada and has three primary operating segments including Retail, Wholesale, and Advanced Technologies. Nitrogen-based fertilizers account for 37% of wholesale sales (as of 2013). Agrium operates about 1,250 retail agricultural centers in the U.S., Canada, South America, and Australia. Its main competitors include CF Industries ( CF ) and Potash Corporation ( POT ).
