Responsible for establishing and maintaining documentation systems required to support contract manufacturing and testing operations, technology transfers, and process development activities.

We are seeking researchers with experience in Molecular Biology to join a program aimed at producing novel HIV vaccine products. Responsibilities will involve: Development of engineered vaccine antigen candidates, including construction, expression and characterization. Immunological characterization of antisera raised against them. Genetic and functional characterization of viruses from clinical trial cohorts and using that information in the development of new vaccine products.

Ms. Betancourt, who has more than 24 years of experience in biologics and the biotechnology industry, is the company's chief liaison with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and responsible for overseeing the preparation of biologics license applications for all products the company seeks to market. Prior to joining VaxGen, Ms. Betancourt served as the vice president, Regulatory Affairs at Titan Pharmaceutical, where she managed multiple product development programs supporting the clinical investigation of pharmaceutical products.

Mr. Ignon has more than 15 years of experience as a business journalist and communications professional. Prior to joining VaxGen, he served as Director, Corporate Communications, for Tenet Healthcare Corporation, one of the nation’s largest operators of acute care hospitals. He also served as Vice President of Investor Relations at Sitrick And Company, one of the nation’s leading crisis communications firms. As a journalist, Mr. Ignon served as founding editor of an award-winning business newspaper and as a finance reporter and editor at Investor’s Business Daily.

Mr. Francis is Vice Chairman of Fischer, Francis, Trees & Watts, Inc., an investment management firm that he co-founded in 1972. He is a member and former Chairman of the Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee, which advises the U.S. Treasury, and is a former member of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Advisory Council. Mr. Francis, who joined the VaxGen board in October 1996, is the brother of Don Francis.
