Description
Solena is developing biomass-to-liquids plants around the world utilising its proprietary gasification technology. Solena's synthetic fuel is a "drop-in" fuel that allows airlines and shipping companies to utilise a sustainable energy source without any changes to their engines or infrastructure. Solena is a privately held corporation, headquartered in Washington, DC, USA.
For onshore applications where plant size restrictions are generally not critical, Velocys is working to incorporate partner Haldor Topsøe's proven ATR technology to provide a complete GTL solution.
With appropriate upgrading, the FT process can produce a broad range of ultra-high quality products. Because they contain very low levels of impurities, these products are of higher quality than those derived by conventional means.
Velocys and Shiloh have been working together since 2012 to develop and implement economic, high quality mass-manufacturing capabilities for the Company's Fischer-Tropsch (FT) reactors, based on state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and quality systems from the automotive industry. Together with Shiloh, Velocys' supply chain can support annual FT reactor orders sufficient for 10,000 bpd of production, and plans are in place enabling expansion to 40,000 bpd in time for order growth.
