Description

27 Years and Counting... Vertical Systems Group, Inc. was founded in Boston twenty-seven years ago today. Thanks to all of our valued clients, colleagues, and families! Our company has evolved through several major shifts in the networking industry; however our mission has not changed. We provide quality custom consulting services, 'real world' analysis, and in-depth statistics focused on the business data networking services used throughout the world. More...

Cable companies have a long heritage of providing television services for consumers, but over the course of the last decade MSOs have been making a name for themselves in the business services sector, providing a set of higher speed data services, including Ethernet.

We provide expert support for custom video presentations, webinars, web content development, custom infographics, customer briefings, white papers, conference presentations, newsletter content, or other market communication projects. Additionally, we offer Ethernet Market Aware Briefings for your Sales or Marketing teams. Go-to-Market Advantage services may be performed using ENS advisory time, or priced as a separate engagement.

Ostensibly, the Level 3 and tw telecom combination is complementary, combining tw telecom’s robust metro fiber footprint with Level 3’s long-haul, global capabilities. However, in recent years, Level 3 has made a stronger push into metro fiber enterprise and government markets, laying its own fiber at the metro level. DOJ and FCC review of the deal, then, will focus on the extent to which the two firms overlap in providing last mile, metro fiber services.

Steve Schultz reiterated his point about not wanting the network to be the bottleneck, adding: “So one of the things that we see is the amount of devices, the amount of mobile devices, the data that the carriers have to carry. It is exceeding the pace at which we can develop, or deploy, equipment. So we have to do it in a much smarter way, and we have to get to a space where we can virtualise these network functions.” If they could cut the 90 day lead time to 90 minutes it would allow carriers to provide services faster and earn more money by offering more personalized services.
