With more than 15 years of experience in nuclear transfer, Shawn's research has centered on improvements in the efficiency of nuclear transfer in various species. As a graduate student at Texas A&M, Shawn developed the most efficient method still used for the production of cloned pigs. Shawn began his career in industry at PPL Therapeutics, Inc., where his primary focus was developing protocols for the production of cloned pigs and cows from somatic cells and also establishing protocols for gene targeting in somatic cells.

ViaGen was founded in Austin, Texas in January 2002 to provide commercial bovine, equine, and porcine genetic preservation and cloning services.

We preserve any non-primate mammals. This includes horses, cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, deer, pets and exotic species. We offer commercial cloning services for any livestock species, including cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and horses. Please contact us if you wish to preserve or clone other animals; our scientific staff has experience in the cloning of multiple species. Please note that ViaGen’s reproductive services focus exclusively on animals; we are neither directly nor indirectly involved in any human cloning efforts.
