Village Homes was established by Jim Harris, Michael Dike and Rob Sell in 1996 with a single guiding principle: To build unique, inspiring homes combining timeless architectural design with modern innovation. Rob and Michael met in Austin in 1994, shortly after graduating from the University of Texas. Both had begun to pursue real-estate related fields and eventually ended up working for one of Austin's well-respected homebuilders. It was here they developed a mutual dissatisfaction with the monotonous designs that builders were churning out. "Although the homes were fairly expensive, they were completely devoid of character," says Rob. "Every house in the subdivision looked the same."
