Our reply: Sorry for what has occurred. We send a "bulk" email to all those whose orders we ship (about 200 this week). We assume they are recieved but cannot know with is certainty. We did ship the week that we stated in our order confirmation, though. Those using express mail, we provide tracking information and expected arrival time. By priority mail this is only a notice of shipment--the USPS doesn't put a time guarantee on priority mail. Please see our "home page" where it states in bold print "safe delivery is guaranteed to everyone when shipped via Express mail". This is also explicitly stated on "shipping" and "terms and conditions" page (in bold, colored font) at page top. Also appears in bold print on ordering pages and in the upper right hand corner of all shopping cart pages. Also was repeated on order confirmation that is emailed after our receipt of order. Many people do choose priority mail, most of them with success. It is not our decision on how to spend customer's money. If they choose to save on shipping and bear the risk, that is their choice.

F rom Ruth, in MA Hello, My comment is that your company is disingenuous when you mention that you can mail plants during the winter months here in the Northeast. I paid, I believe $47. for 6 plants and 4 were DOA and 2 were iffy, one was almost dead, and later died and that left one. I have learned an important lesson from your company: unless I pay the higher cost of shipping I will not receive plants alive during the height of winter. Please also take me off your mailing list.

So what’s the point? None, really, except to say that this variation and unpredictability is part of what makes growing these plants so much fun. Surprises, like finding two seemingly different plants, growing side-by-side, knowing that they really shouldn’t be all that different. Plants are living things, which means any two of them will never be exactly the same, and each will adapt to its environment, and our care, in its own way. There is some satisfaction knowing that we are partly responsible for their beauty when we provide them with what’s needed for them to grow as we want them to.
