The VuStik Mission Our mission at VuStik is simple. We aim to reduce the number of needle stick attempts and improve patient satisfaction with use of the VuStik 3S System. VuStik is dedicated to improving clinical practice by overcoming barriers in nursing IV access training and improving the approach to peripheral IV access procedures. Executive Management Frank J. Ball Chief Executive Officer ( frank@vustik.com ) Mr. Ball describes himself “like a prism, seeing business as its component parts.” He is an original thinker who “sees around corners” to find opportunities, create new products, and devise innovative strategies. He is passionate about fostering sources of value and mitigating uncertainty. Trained as a Mechanical Engineer at Cal Poly, he has 30 years as a proven senior executive. His accomplishments leading manufacturing operations include: propelling strategic operations, including sales/marketing, for enterprise of 9 facilities with over 600 employees to great success; and growing a startup into national franchise of 26 locations doing $128MM, then rolling up to public firm. At the helm of VuStik only a few months, he has assembled a fantastic team and driven a remarkable turnaround. COL Melvyn Harris, MD Chief Medical Officer & Co-Founder ( mel@vustik.com ) Dr. Harris is currently on faculty at Loma Linda University Medical Center, division of Emergency Medicine. He has over 25 years of experience in emergency medicine and served as the head of the emergency department for the 352nd Combat Support Hospital, Oakland Army Base from 1997 to 2003, while serving in the Army Reserve Medical Corp. COL Harris is currently serving his country caring for our troops at Camp Cropper, Baghdad, through November 2010. Ignacio Cespedes, MBA, PhD Chief Operations Officer ( ignacio@vustik.com ) Dr. Cespedes is a proven, hands-on manager with 22 years of medical device experience. Able to merge clinical, technical and business issues for commercialization, he has managed up-stream marketing, sales, business development, technology development and R&D. He serves on the faculty at the University of Phoenix and is the Principal of BrightStar Healthcare. Prior to his work at VuStik, Dr. Cespedes was the Vice President of Marketing and Sales at CoolTouch, the Vice President of Business Development at JOMED, and the Vice President of Product Management at EndoSonics. Dr. Cespedes holds a B.S. degree in electronic engineering, an M.B.A. in finance, and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering. David Gruebele Chief Financial Officer ( david.g@vustik.com ) Mr. Gruebele trained as an engineer at UC Davis, He has guided successful startups and recoveries of financially troubled business units and entrepreneurial companies. His varied background includes experience in high technology, manufacturing, software, e-commerce, financial and professional services, and banking. With 20 years of P&L responsibility at public and private firms, Mr. Gruebele specializes in debt and equity finance and investment as well as Angel financing. Prior to his work at VuStik, Mr.
