WPBT2 is your community owned public television station. For more than 59 years, WPBT2 has broadcast an array of educational, arts and cultural programs. WPBT2 is dedicated to providing excellence and high quality public television for all of South Florida.
Founded in 1952, the Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre (FLCT) is a not-for-profit organization that provides cultural and educational opportunities for children, ages 3 through 18. Through year-round classes, camps, productions and outreach programs, FLCT gives children of all abilities the chance to develop creativity, problem solving skills and self-esteem. FLCT's mission is to teach the art of life through the magic of theatre.
WPBT2 is a vibrant force in the South Florida community that entertains, enlightens,and educates. We provide content from PBS, from other partners, and of our own creation – programs and services that change lives, inspire trust, and make a difference. We are community-supported and take pride in reflecting the diversity of the region in which we live and work.
The Gold Coast Railroad Museum is dedicated to preserving, exhibiting and operating historic railroad equipment and industrial arts exhibits for educational purposes in accordance with American Association of Museum standards. The mission of the museum is to serve by educating all the youths and adults who walk through its doors. Its commitment to education focuses on hands-on interdisciplinary and intergenerational exhibits, programs, outreach activities and special events which speak to the richness and diversity of our Florida heritage.
Two FIU faculty from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Kate MacMillin, an award-winning TV producer and assistant professor, and Juliet Pinto, an associate professor whose research focuses on environmental communication, explore the narrative of a community under threat from sea level rise in their half-hour documentary, South Florida Rising Seas, on January 15 at 8 pm on WPBT2.
