Description
Founded in 1971, WQIS is the largest U.S.-based underwriter of pollution liability insurance for the marine industry. No one has more marine pollution insurance and spill response expertise, or offers more innovative coverage to the marine community. WQIS is dedicated to providing the broadest coverage and creating the most responsive organization to serve the needs of their clients.
Along with John, two more team members are also joining the WQIS ranks: Angela Konetzni and James Q. Stevens. Angela Konetzni, previously an Assistant Claims Manager at WQIS, has returned after a short hiatus and will be working as a consultant in the claims department. James Q. Stevens is the former head of marine insurance for Scottsdale Insurance Company and is bringing his 40+ years of experience to WQIS. Both will be key in WQIS’s continued initiative of providing superior service and systems integration.
WQIS is dedicated to providing the broadest coverage in marine pollution insurance and creating the most responsive organization to serve the needs of our clients. With a history of being the pioneer of the original marine pollution policy, we have never stopped innovating. WQIS can boast a number of "firsts" including having the foresight to cover over 42 federal statutes, providing the first endorsements for Alaska and California, being ahead of the curve by issuing IMO Bunker Convention blue cards, and filing thousands of COFR certificates with the U.S. Coast Guard on behalf of its assureds.
With over 42 years of experience in leading the industry, WQIS is supported by many of the world's largest insurance providers. This position also allows us to attract the top talent in the marine insurance industry. The true strength of WQIS comes from the combination of our underwriting, claims and spill clean-up expertise. It is this wealth of shared internal knowledge that lets us be a vigilant and proactive partner, continually looking for ways to better protect our assureds, the brokers who manage them and the overall marine environment. Whether you're looking to quote a single vessel or an entire fleet, need to report a claim, or ensure a properly managed spill, our unparalleled team is ready to be of service.
Founded in 1971, WQIS has over 40 years of experience as an absolute specialist in the industry, focusing on the issues of marine pollution insurance.
