Jacoubowsky Hawkins Walker Architects Inc. (JHW Architects) was founded in 1969, located at 299 Cannery Row in 1974 in the Aeneas Storehouse (one of the original cannery buildings built in Steinbeck’s famous forties and remodeled by our firm in 1974). After 28 years, we recently moved to 2400 Garden Road, Suite C in Monterey.

Ken Walker serves JHW Architects in the capacity of Project Architect, stepping aside after 22 years as a Principal in 2002 to pursue travel and outside activities. He joined the firm as a Partner in 1980, bringing twenty years experience in Southern California and on the Central Coast. As Project Manager for the Seagram/Coca Cola Winery in Gonzales, he managed the construction document preparation and supervision for the warehouse and bottling facility, tasting room and the award-winning gallery.

Daryl Hawkins is President of the firm, with Kenneth J. Walker serving as Project Architect and Boris “Bob” Jacoubowsky Of Counsel, Together, they have collaborated on many of the major works for which the firm is responsible on the central coast. In addition, we have a full time CAD Manager in Paul Carvalho, and Sarah L. Miller handling Marketing/Business Development. We employ many consultants on a project by project basis, depending upon the size and budget involved.

Sarah Miller joined JHW Architects in 2003 as Director of Marketing and Business Development, acting as our liaison to the community while developing new business. She introduces our firm to potential clients, often interfacing throughout the life of the project. With a degree in Interior Design, Sarah brings many years of experience in the fields of Interior Design and New Business Development to JHW. She collaborates on JHW’s newsletter SKETCHES with Daryl Hawkins and works on the development of new marketing tools for the firm.

Paul Carvalho brings many years of CAD experience to JHW Architects, with computer skills including AutoCAD, AGI 32, Pagemaker, and Photoshop. Educated at Cabrillo College with a degree in Liberal Arts, Paul interfaces with JHW’s architects, producing the drawings of our projects and networking with our consultants and clients. Paul was well versed in the field of residential and commercial construction before his transition into becoming an AutoCAD technician.
