WIA is a full service licensed placement agency specializing in international adoption. If you as the adoptive parents are in the process of completing independent adoption without the support of an agency, or if you are working with an agency that does not provide dossier assistance, WIA is available to assist you in gathering and authentication or apostilling your adoption dossier. It does not matter which country you are adopting from or where you live - as long as you are a U.S. citizen our staff can assist you. WIA has extensive experience in dossier preparation for countries all around the world.

Our Overseas Social Worker - Gerald Bowman, LCSW, ACSW, resides in Munich, Germany, and is licensed in Utah, Virginia and the Republic of Ireland. He is also recognized as a Dipl. Sozial Padagoge in the Republic of Germany and is a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT). He has lived abroad for over 35 years and has completed hundreds of home studies for families serving in the Military and U.S. families living abroad. He is willing to travel around the world to help prospective adoptive parents complete a home study. Gerald can also work with adoptive parents when post adoption reports are required by the foreign country or the placing agency.

If you are a birth mother who may be considering placing your child for adoption, WIA can meet with you to discuss options. Our social workers have extensive experience in birth mother counseling and are supportive of any decision you make as a birth mother.

Our licensed adoption agency follows a careful process of learning the child’s unique needs and legally locating and approving an appropriate family who can meet those needs. The new family will have a current homestudy done by a licensed agency, all background clearances and will be able to demonstrate that they have experience and available resources to parent the child in a new adoption. The new adoption is legally done through the states involved, and all laws are followed. Interstate Compact in all applicable states must give their approval before the child leaves the original home. We believe that Second Chance adoptions are the best hope for a child who is struggling in their adoptive home and for parents who have done all they can to help but have come to the difficult decision that they have no more resources. It is shown that over 90% of these children thrive and do exceptionally well in the new Second Chance adoptive home.
