The Menare Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Underground Railroad, uses the Button Farm as its headquarters. During the heritage festival, Menare’s founder, Tony Cohen, told festival goers about Washington Gas’ connection to the local Underground Railroad.
