Description

As the economy attempts to return to its original state of plentiful (plenty of waste), employers are going to seriously look at how they run their companies. I think the lesson many of us learn during times of recession is how to get along with less. But where you chose to make these changes could drastically affect the success of your business. Many companies think that by reducing the number of jobs reduces their debt. Or even worst, redundancy of needed staff will truly send your company into bankruptcy. How do you kow you are getting your money worth? And where do you invest this money? The most logical answer would be in its people. However, some positions are viewed as being more important or having more value to the company. Administrative professionals (administrative assistants, secretaries, data entry) positions are usually the first on the chopping block. The backbone to the company is being removed from the rest of the body. This is not a smart move at all.It is smarter to invest in your administrative staff by providing additional training. You can get twice the person for generally the same amount of pay. What many of the administrative industry personnel lack is training. Some need help with basic competencies, some need assistance with professional development with their soft skills (communications), and as more and more of them are being ask to provide duties usually assigned to those in the IT department – it is important that they are trained.Consider training your staff and investing in them before you make the decision to lay off and shift their duties to others who are already overworked.
