Description
Boston, MA (September 13, 2010) – Webster Capital announces its investment in Epic MedStaff, the leading provider of home healthcare services to medically fragile and chronically ill infants and children in the state of Texas. Fifth Street Capital provided debt financing for the transaction. Provident Healthcare Partners served as exclusive advisor to the sellers; Goodwin Procter served as counsel for Webster. Founded in 2001, Epic’s pediatric services are designed to provide a high quality, lower cost alternative to prolonged hospitalization for seriously ill children. Epic provides skilled nursing care 24/7 to seriously ill children from point of hospital discharge until reaching 21 years of age. The Company has established itself as one of the leading and fastest growing companies serving the pediatric home care market in Texas. Epic has proven it can deliver superior financial results, strong growth, and recognizable brand equity. Webster is seeking to capitalize on Epic’s business opportunity by providing the Company access to a group of knowledgeable entrepreneurs and helping Epic reach its full potential under the leadership of new CEO John Garbarino. This transaction represents the third home health business in which Webster will have invested; previous home healthcare investments include Comfort Keepers, a franchisor of home health services, and Freedom Eldercare, a home healthcare provider in New Jersey. The firm will leverage its deep industry experience in the healthcare services market to support Epic. Webster is currently investing Webster Capital II, a $205 million fund which closed in 2007. Webster seeks to invest in businesses in the consumer, healthcare services, and business to business sectors. “We are delighted to partner with Epic,” said David Malm, Partner of Webster Capital. “We believe that Epic combines all aspects of what we look for in our investment strategy. They have a strong leadership position in a large growing market segment, a strong brand name and a demonstrated record of attractive historic growth and profitability with multiple avenues of growth ahead. We are hopeful that our expertise in healthcare services, specifically home healthcare, will enable us to assist management in an accelerated growth program moving forward.” “Epic is a market leader in pediatric home care because of its emphasis on providing the highest quality care and extraordinary client service,” said John Garbarino, President of Epic. “We look forward to working with Epic’s great team of clinicians and other professionals to build on the strong foundation they have put in place.” About Webster Capital - Founded in 2002, Webster Capital is a private equity partnership with over $200 million in capital under management which invests in branded consumer, business to business, and healthcare services companies.
