Description
International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges announced today that Reena Gogna will join its London office as a partner in the Banking & Finance practice. Reena is currently a partner at Latham & Watkins where her practice is focused on advising lenders and sponsors on acquisition finance transactions with particular expertise in bank/bond structures. Reena's arrival comes on the back of the recent recruitment of Banking & Finance partner Chris McLaughlin and also follows a strong first quarter for Weil’s London and European leveraged finance practice.
?We are one of the leading private equity law firms in London and Europe, ranked in the top tier of Chambers UK for buyouts with more partners ranked at top of the individual rankings than any other firm. The establishment of our London funds practice, linking in with our well-established US and Asian teams, provides clients with full coverage for both raising and investing funds.
Against a background of general market uncertainty, the priorities and needs of our clients have changed significantly. One of the strengths of Weil as a firm – and the London office – is the ability to provide the highest level of service and practical, commercial advice to meet these needs. It is not simply a question of having a world-leading restructuring practice and one of the premier private equity practices, it is that these practices are constantly evolving to the benefit of our clients.
The importance Weil places on providing these services to the community is demonstrated by our goal of having all lawyers at the Firm perform 50 hours of pro bono work each year. Toward that end, every partner is expected to work on a pro bono matter every year, and every new attorney – including lateral partners – is required to take on a pro bono matter. During the past decade, Weil has performed more than 800,000 hours of pro bono work and has had a meaningful effect on thousands of lives.
The firm's Miami lawyers practice under three main department-level headings: Corporate, Litigation and Business Finance & Restructuring. The Miami Corporate Department has extensive experience advising and representing financial institutions, investment banks and other institutional clients in all areas of corporate and real estate finance, syndication and loan restructuring, including construction, asset-based, mezzanine, bond and bridge equity financing.
