Whitten Consulting offers skills and workmanship training programs for electronic manufacturing and repair industries. We are committed to bringing training classes that will allow individuals to improve and update their skill sets in meeting the challenges of today ’s electronics. With over 30 years' experience in both manufacturing and field repair, we are able to give your employees comprehensive training that will increase production while improving quality. The training programs are supported with workbooks, PowerPoint presentations, overheads and other media content. Students are tested for comprehension and evaluated throughout the program. Hands-on learning supplements the lectures. Test boards evaluate their skills. Certificates are provided to students passing the final test and successfully completing the course. Manufacturing Standards Training IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies The IPC-A-610C workmanship standard is a compilation of visual quality acceptability requirements for electronic assemblies. It describes materials, methods and acceptability for producing quality soldering interconnections and assemblies. For your business to perform reliable quality work, operators and technicians must have the knowledge to identify the conditions that constitute acceptance, rejection or nonconforming defects. This training will enhance the student's discrimination skills by improving the accuracy of discrimination between an "acceptable" or "not acceptable" electronic assembly. It will also teach the students the reasons for the accept/reject criteria to enhance their motivation and ability to consistently (and correctly) apply the discrimination criteria. This is a widely used standard and has an international reputation as the single source for end product acceptance. IPC-A-610C Worker Proficiency Certification requires 24 hours of class time. Successful completion of the final examination results in 24 month IPC Certification. IPC-7711/21 Repair, Rework and Modification of Electronic Assemblies IPC-7711 and 7721 prescribes the procedural requirements, tools, materials and methods to be used in the modification, rework, repair or restoration of electronic assemblies. Industry approved techniques are taught for both surface mount and through hole rework, land, conductor and laminate repair. Other training topics include handling assemblies, wire splicing, SMT component removal/installation, heating methods and conformal coating. This training will provide the knowledge and technical skills to avoid third party repairs and/or scrapping assemblies with expensive components. IPC-7711 Rework Operator Proficiency Certification requires 24 hours and IPC-7721 Repair Operator Proficiency Certification requires 16 hours of class time.
