Beware when evaluating other web development options. Not all website packages are the same. The first thing you should ask is "is this a custom design or is this a template?" Some web companies sell templates that are freely obtainable on the internet but they charge even more than we do for a custom design. We feel that your design is your identity to the world and we want to accurately tell your story.
Our websites are loaded with all the tools that they need to be effective in search engine ranking. However, you need to be an educated buyer in this matter. Expecting an immediate #1 ranking on Google is like opening a store on a backstreet and expecting it to be crowded out the moment you open your doors. If anyone tells you that for $100 dollars (or 2 or 3 or 4) that they can put you on the first page of Google then it would be more beneficial to put that money through the shredder. Good search engine ranking requires as much sophistication as developing a good reputation as a business in the community. We provide you with the tools to accomplish that.
OK, so design is subjective, but when selecting an a firm to develop your website, pull up their portfolio and then pull up ours and compare them side by side. If the flatter, more basic, designs are acceptable to you, then go with that option, but also put yourself in your customer's shoes - your website is your chance to make a good first impression, will you hold them there? We're not saying that we're the only firm that does good design, we are saying to make an educated comparison.
