May We Recommend... Sean Minor “4 BEARS” Merlot Napa Valley 2007 Sean Minor wines was founded to celebrate the things we prize most: delicious, approachable wines; expressive terroir-driven flavors; great value for the price; and family! With a winemaking philosophy that exudes quality and truly represents the appellation from which it’s produced, yet affordable enough for everyday enjoyment, this Napa Valley Merlot is a perfect fit at Wine Thieves – Monday through Thursday on your pocket book but good enough to serve your family and friends on the weekend. Blended with 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petite Verdot, it displays lush aromas and silky flavors of ripe black cherry, plum and mocha. On the palate, the wine demonstrates those same fruit flavors with an integrated mid-palate of sweet French and American oak, and soft tannins that finish with a lingering and full finish. Enjoy this wine now, as it’s tasting great! You can always pick more up for your cellar to enjoy in the future. Finally, a distinctive Napa Valley Merlot for a great price! ~ Darrell Scarlott $10.99 Conn Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2006 Conn Creek ~ YES! This is a must have. With all you’d expect in a$20 cab, We are selling this one for a whopping 15.99! The aromas and flavor profile are full of red cranberry, ripe cherry fruit, and, well, a cab just wouldn’t be a cab without the cassis… Oh, and did I mention the oak? Mocha and chocolate notes are laced thruought, with a very subtle but apparent dusty tannin that make it clear, while you can take sip after sip of this lovely, ready-to-drink red, it IS in fact, still a cab. And although we don’t usually take ratings to heart here at the Thieves, this wine does consistenly well year after year; earning itself 89 points in 2008 from Wine Enthusiast Magazine. ~ Samantha Porta $15.99 Biohof Pratsch Grüner Veltliner Austria 2009 [1L] This light, food-friendly white wine is the second largest production winegrape in Austria, behind Riesling. Since the 1980s, stricter wine laws have made the quality of this varietal much improved. The Pratsch is lean, but with substance; citrus, white pepper, radish and celery flavors make it not only a versatile pairing wine, but a perfect summer sipper! Do not fear artichokes and asparagus any longer when looking for a wine companion… the Gruner is your girl! Yet, this wine will also stand up to sausages, roast pork, goat cheese, and so much more. BONUS: it’s organically-grown, and comes in a one-litre bottle, so you get 33% more for your money! So fire up the grill, crack a bottle of Grüner, and enjoy!! ~ Karen Coughlin $11.99 YNOT Pinot Noir Santa Barbara 2008 In Lompoc, a former Air Force town on the Santa Barbara coastline, a growing community of boutique winemakers have gathered in a cluster of warehouses known as the “Wine Ghetto”. They are conveniently located at the western aperture of the Santa Rita Hills as they funnel toward the Pacific. Norman Yost, the eccentric yet well-established creator of Flying Goat winery, found that he needed to offer a price-sensitive, “by the glass” label for the pinot noir enthusiasts of the post-Sideways era.
