Winfree Academy is dedicated to training those students who plan to attend college after graduation with the necessary skills and abilities to complete college applications, FAFSA forms, and college entrance exams, as well as preparing them for the challenges of collegiate academics. Winfree has solidified partnerships with local colleges and universities to provide dual credit opportunities, campus visits, guest speakers, financial aid assistance, and other post-secondary preparedness needs.

Winfree Academy’s special education department strives to provide a comprehensive educational program with complete educational opportunities essential to the full intellectual and social development of students with disabilities. Special education and related services are specially designed services developed to support students with disabilities within the general curriculum.

Winfree Academy knows that each of our students are one-of-a-kind. We provide our students with a variety of services to support them in their journey to becoming a high school graduate and a productive individual after high school. We believe in the ability to be flexible to the needs of our students, and our many specialized services have helped thousands of students graduate with a high school diploma.

The Courage Program was founded in 2003 as a means to reach those high school students who struggle with the challenges of returning to the same school environment they attended prior to substance abuse treatment. It is a unique classroom within Winfree Academy Charter Schools that offers a safe supportive environment for students in recovery. The program offers students the opportunity to attend in house AA and NA meetings, substance abuse education classes, and supportive groups. Families are also involved through multifamily education groups in the evenings.

The Texas Virtual School Network (TXVSN) has been established to provide students with a method of distance learning, as well as dual credit opportunities. Winfree Academy has an articulation agreement with STATE U’s dual credit program through The University of Texas at Arlington and Lamar University. Students may earn college credit by taking online courses through both of these 4-year Texas Public Universities. Students should see their campus Life Transition Coach for more information.
