I spent several weeks studying splitters. I read as many reviews as I could find. Interesting there are not many reviews on this machine. I chose this machine because the reviews on most of the others ranged from atrocious to so so. The few I could find on these seemed acceptable. I also studied the manufacturer and they passed muster. I liked the manufacturer’s point of view on the hydraulics. I learned from reading many reviews that the hydraulic element is much more important than the power source. I liked the fact that the hoses were coil wrapped on the standard machine; it was not an additional option. That spoke to the quality of the hydraulics. Additional factors revolved around the fact that I was buying as a home owner. I plan to split wood for several widows who also have property with available wood. I live on a small ranch with plenty of cut it yourself wood available. Our sole heating source is wood. I was not looking for a “production” machine. As I considered the fact that I would use this machine for a week or two each year and then store it, I decided electric was the way to go.
