Description

Work is a family name that orginates from the Orkney Islands off the northern coast of Scotland. They were the makers and keepers of fortifications. In 1692 five Work brothers migrated to the United States. Michael Walter is the Principal at Work Concepts, an IT management research and analysis entity. He is also President of the itSMF-USA Atlanta Local Interest Group. He has over 29 years of technical leadership experience in high stress, life critical environments. Information Services positions including working as a Management Consultant, a System Administrator and Network Manager, and a CTO/CSO for a multi-agency government intelligence center. At Compuware, Mr. Walter held positions as a Management Process Subject Matter Expert, Field Technical Support Manager and a Sales Engineer. He has spoken at several national conferences on ITSM. He has also been a licensed Paramedic and an Agency Coordinator for a Department of Justice Organized Crime task force. Mr. Walter is a Lieutenant Commander, United States Coast Guard Reserve, retired. He has a B.S. in Management Science from Florida Institute of Technology and a Master of Public Administration degree from Florida International University. He is a member of AFCEA, PMI, ISACA and itSMF-USA, where he served on the national Governance Committee and currently works on the Qualification Certification Registry Working Group and is on the US Publications Executive Sub-Committee.
