GGWCC Minutes- August 20, 2009President Leslie Wizelman called the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m. Board members present: Wendy Gaustad, Betsy Blaine, Peggy DiMartino, Carol Goodman, Sue Taber, Marilyn Ross, Kevin Huyck, Dave Buck and Brian Keeler. July Minutes Recap- Brian highlighted the minutes from the dinner meeting held at Frank and Mary's restaurant. Treasurer's report- Kevin supplied a detailed financial update of GWCC activities. The board reviewed at length and inquired about several points. Kevin noted a separate quilt project acct. Membership dues are still coming in slowly. Peggy added to the report, saying the quilt/barn project has so far profited $893. Village value days hampered by rain, but the event is never a profit maker. Moved to approve by Marilyn, 2nd by Carol Dir Report- Wendy gave an extremely thorough report of all of her activities with accompanying visuals. Among her projects recently were: *Attending All- county chamber meeting, where a new data base was set up supported by all the gas companies. *Leslie, Mike, Wendy and Brian met with Brian Groves of Chesapeake to secure funds for various projects including North Branch Arts and WCC endeavors. *A quilt calendar is being proposed. Kevin voted to approve, 2nd by Sue *A flyer for quilt project "tour" to promote the event is being considered. Leslie suggested obtaining quilts from all GWCC printers. Brian made motion to approve, 2nd by Sue with auth to spend up to $500 *RTE 6 Heritage group- a meeting called (sherette) next week (Aug 25,26,27) *Youth Group has 360 hours of various projects in community and at WCC building *Carol and Wendy working on history sign project with 25 historic markers. North Branch Arts and Tri report- The committee met on Tuesday to plan the event with several new activities under consideration among them a pumpkin roll contest for kids. Other aspects of the fest *A new power point add at all area theatres in Bradford County- offered free by BCRAC *Various promos out of area *Other kids events- Straw maze, Abbie's kids art, pumpkin decorating, high School art students decorating *Friday events at Grovedale with 2 bands - blue grass and top 40 pop admission $10 *Saturday line up in progress * maybe a private cocktail party at Grovedale if Chesapeake grant comes in *Sat eve- band at hotel - not a GWCC project *Carol is reviving pie idea- but just whole pies not a contest * A silent auction of art was suggested by Leslie- possible a booth on the street *Brian Suggested that GWCC members contribute to significant prize money for street arts and crafts. This would attract more artisans and keep quality up. Chesapeake grant could also be used for this in future years. *Triathlon seems to be progressing - course will start and stop at high school due to construction on US 6. Committee to meet Aug 26 New Year's Eve Event _ Marilyn working on this project.
