Xtera’s team of highly experienced individuals includes experts who have come from the optical and undersea telecommunications industry – many have 20 to 30 years of experience in the design and installation of existing undersea systems. The Systems Design team includes experts in the simulation of undersea optical systems who have developed highly specialized modeling tools and a dedicated optical test-bed, allowing us to optimize upgrade solutions to individual networks.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA and DALLAS, TEXAS, USA – (January 16, 2014) – Ocean Networks, Inc., the owner and developer of the South America Pacific Link (SAPL) submarine cable system, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Xtera Communications, Inc. for the turnkey supply and installation of the SAPL submarine cable system. This agreement is a key milestone in Ocean Networks planned 9,400 km trans-Pacific cable linking Manta, Ecuador to Oahu, Hawaii.

Xtera’s SLTEs are designed to connect to any of the unused fiber pairs in any submarine cable. They can also replace an older SLTE to provide more capacity or even be coupled together with an older SLTE to provide incremental capacity at a lower cost.
