Jannah joined our faculty in December 2013 after many years of working with children in the ministries of Yates Baptist Church. (She grew up in Durham. . . at Yates!) She has always felt passionate about working with children. Her patience, kindness, and laid-back nature allow her to handle those unexpected surprises that children can often provide! One of her favorite children’s books is Oh My, A Fly! by Jan Pienkowski because of dear memories of her grandmother reading it to her and her sister. Jannah’s life scripture is Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” We feel that Jannah’s path has brought her here for an important reason.

Yates has also opted to arrange 3rd support teachers in each classroom during busy times. This allows children to have more frequent, meaningful interactions with adults, and equips teachers to have the support needed to provide the highest quality of care.

Lisa has many years of experience in early childhood settings, mostly in churches. She has been a part of the Yates faculty since November 2010. Because of her varied organizational skills, you may also see Lisa organizing toys and equipment in the Resource Library, adding supplies to the Art Room, or simply fixing and installing! Since Lisa recently completed an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from UNC-Chapel Hill, it makes sense that one of her favorite children’s books is Brush Your Teeth Please by Leslie McGuire. She has many good memories from her own childhood, and cites her mother as one who inspired her to work with children. Lisa’s hobbies include going to cruise-ins and car shows to see classic cars!.
