YEI Engineers has been providing electrical and mechanical design expertise to rail and transit transportation clients for over 20 years. Services include mechanical, electrical and plumbing design for upgrading, renovation and improvements to stations, platforms, maintenance facilities, electrical substations, electrical power distribution, parking lots, administration, wheel truing facilities and Terminals (i.e. Bus, Ferry and Cruise). We have vast experience in both small and large projects, and know how to balance budget and schedule while delivering quality design.

Moon H. Yuen, P.E., Electrical Engineer, formed Yuen's Engineering Company as a sole proprietorship in August of 1975 in San Francisco, CA. Prior to founding his own company, Moon worked for Bechtel for twenty-seven years completing hundreds of design engineering projects. Some of his work was summarized in eighteen important technical papers including the low voltage heating of motors for which he was awarded a U.S. patent. "Short Circuit ABC," the most well known of his technical papers was published in 1973. Throughout his professional career, Moon was a dedicated educator.

Mr. Hayes has over 10 years of experience providing detailed engineering design of mechanical systems for HVAC, plumbing, storm, raw water, and fire protection for applications in commercial, office, laboratory, and industrial facilities, all in close coordination with other engineering disciplines. He is experienced in value engineering, project management, schedules, cost estimates, system evaluation, equipment and procurement, preparation of plans and technical specifications.

YEI has worked with the Valley Transportation Authority as an independent client and in conjunction with BART related projects, responsible for the electrical and mechanical design for four pumping stations, two for trackway and two for roadway intersections. Our major work has focused on the VTA BART to San Jose Line Section including: the Kato Road Separation, Dixon Landing Road Grade Separation, and the Preliminary Electrical Lighting Plan.

Mr. Yung holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University and has over 40 years of experience in electrical engineering and project management. As President of YEI Engineers, Inc., he is responsible for managing the company’s operations. His technical expertise is in the area of electrical distribution, power system analysis, lighting and site utilities for industrial, transportation, military, and maritime facilities. Mr. Yung is a registered Professional Electrical Engineer in the State of California. He has been employed with YEI since 1977.
