ImprovBoston is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a positive impact on our local communities through the principles of improvisation: collaboration, communication, risk-taking and support. For over 30 years, ImprovBoston’s talented and accomplished performers have entertained, enlightened and engaged audiences of all ages.

The Bamidele Dancers & Drummers was founded in 1983 by Bamidele Osumarea (1947- 1995). The company, based in Amherst, Massachusetts, continues under the direction of Marilyn M. Sylla. The group is proud to have in residence Sekou Sylla, a dancer, acrobat and drummer from Les Ballet Africains, the national dance company of the Republic of New Guinea, West Africa. Mrs. Sylla and members of the group have studied and performed in West Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, and Europe. Marilyn and Sekou are adjunct faculty at Mt.

Christina Piscitelli has been performing and teaching residencies for over 20 years in and around the Boston area for grades K to 12. She received her BFA in dance from Emerson College. From 1998 to 2006, she performed and taught for the Boston Dance Collective's educational programs and served as co-director and director of the Collective's Intergenerational Summer Outreach Program for seven years. For seven seasons she was the choreographer for the Freelance Players and Freelance Troupe in Brookline. Presently Christina choreographs musicals for the Charles River School in Dover.

The Mystic Paper Beasts perform myths of transformation in the whimsical masks for which they have gained international renown. They have presented some 700 performances in the past 22 years of collaboration, including such venues as museums (British Museum of Art at Yale, Brooklyn Children’s Museum (NYC), Williams College Museum of Art, Discovery Museum (Bridgeport), New Britain Museum of Modern Art, among others), First Nights Boston, Hartford, New Haven, and more; festivals as various as the Ct.

Karen is a world-renowned dancer and performance-mime artist, an award-winning choreographer, and the innovator of “mime-dance” (the fusion of two classical art forms). Karen studied ballet at the Cantarella School of Dance, the Ram Island Dance Center (with Andrea Stark) and on scholarship with the Joffrey Ballet School. She danced professionally with the Ohio Ballet and the Darmstadt Opera Ballet in Germany. Upon moving back to the United States, Karen also danced principal roles with the Portland Ballet Company.
