Description

Chris J. Kenney (click to email) is the Director and Principal Art Conservator and has been working in private practice in central California for over eighteen years. His academic training included graduate studies in historic resources management, conservation science, museology, and exhibit design which began in 1978 while serving as the Archivist at the California Museum of Photography at the University of California, Riverside. His apprenticeship in paintings conservation was conducted at the private studio/lab of Professional Art Conservation, Inc., in Westport, Connecticut. Chris was also a partner in a successful art gallery and conservation framing business in Santa Cruz, California.His continued studies in conservation and preservation technology also include coursework and workshops at UCLA, UC Santa Cruz, the Rochester Institute of Technology, LA County Museum of Art, the J. P. Getty Museum of Art and through professional conservation associations and mid-career development. Like many conservators, he is dedicated to continuing education, expanding his knowledge and skill base, and independent research. His recent studies include the use of laser technology in art conservation at LACMA and reweaving techniques of torn canvas paintings at the Getty Museum.MÖBIUS: art conservation in Santa Cruz, California, was created to offer comprehensive art preservation and conservation services to charitable and educational institutions, museums, libraries, private clients, interior designers, disaster mitigators, insurance companies, moving companies, and art collectors. We specialize in the conservation of oil paintings but are called upon for a myriad of other related areas of conservation which sometimes includes objects, frames, and consultations pertaining to the preservation of antiquities and works of art. Most of our clients are personal, professional, or institutional referrals who have relied on our professional attitude, technical abilities, personal skills, and excellent results for almost two decades.
