diaDexus, a privately held biotechnology company, is focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of novel, patent protected diagnostic products with high clinical value.), a novel risk factor for coronary heart disease and ischemic stroke. The PLAC test was cleared for marketing by the FDA in July 2003 as in aid in determining risk for coronary heart disease. diaDexus also received marketing clearance for the PLAC test to aid in predicting risk for ischemic stroke associated with atherosclerosis in June 2005. Numerous published or presented studies, involving more than 9,000 subjects, highlight Lp-PLAdiaDexus was formed in 1997 as a joint venture by SmithKline Beecham and Incyte. SmithKline Beecham granted diaDexus an exclusive license to certain diagnostic intellectual property, and Incyte contributed free access to its databases.
