Inclusions of Passion It is a rare and wonderful moment when your career and your passion come together. As gem dealers we enjoy working with rare stones and the passionate people who sell them. While we are always rich in friendships, we occasionally are rich in profits. But it is the highest pleasure when your passion for gems comes together with other passions, the passion (in my case) for speed! Look at this inclusion in a 1.41 carat oval emerald.

Track Record - For over 40 years, Colombia has supplied the world with emeralds that have been clarity-enhanced with cedarwood oil. Complaints about unstable or deceptive enhancements never arose until palm oil (a resin that turns whitish over time) began to see wide use in the 1990s. Palm oil was finally excluded after the World Emerald Congress of 1998.

Because the Viceroyalty of Peru (which included all Southamerican Spanish colonies) existed under Spain for over 280 years, one can imagine how the name Peru could have a meaning broader than its geographical boundaries. Peru, Colombia and many other Southamerican countries did not achieve independence until the early 1800's.

This group, called Communities and Small-Scale Mining (CASM). is dedicated to improving working conditions of small miners, reduce child labor, and eliminate poverty in rural areas worldwide.
