FOR IMMEDIAT RELEASE Charleston, SC, Oct. 1, 2010: CreateSpace, an Amazon company and print-on-demand publisher, announces the availability of Harriet Hodgson’s latest book, 101 Affirmations to Ease Your Grief Journey: Words of Comfort, Words of Hope. This new grief resource comes from Hodgson’s life experience. On a Friday night in February of 2007, her elder daughter died from the injuries she received in a car crash. Her father-in-law succumbed to pneumonia on Sunday. Two deaths on the same weekend stunned Hodgson and she sobbed uncontrollably when she saw their photos on the same page of the newspaper. Eight weeks later, her brother died of a heart attack. In the fall, her former son-in-law died from the injuries he received in another car crash. “Four family deaths within nine months robbed me of hope,” Hodgson said. She started writing affirmations to find hope again. Her first affirmation – I will get through this – became her mantra. Affirmation-writing changed Hodgson’s grief journey and her life. “I continue to write affirmations,” she explains. “They keep me upbeat.” Each affirmation in 101 Affirmations to Ease Your Grief Journey is followed by a focus word or words that may be used for self-evaluation, support group discussions, meditation, or prayer. The book also contains step-by-step affirmation-writing instructions and a list of grief support organizations. Neil Chethik, author of FatherLoss thinks the new grief resource provides a “powerful process “for coming to terms with the death of a loved one. “This gentle, compassionate book will help transform your grief into hope,” he says. According to Helen Fitzgerald, Emeritus Training Director of the American Hospice Foundation, “There is something here for everybody, not only about grief, but about life.” An independent journalist for 30+ years, Hodgson is the author of 28 books and hundreds of print and Internet articles. She has appeared on more than 160 radio talk shows and dozens of television stations, including CNN. Her work is cited in Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in America, Contemporary Authors, and other directories. Hodgson is a contributing writer for the Open to Hope Foundation website and Caregiving in America magazine columnist.
