During Montana's American Indian Heritage Day (Fourth Friday in September) and National Native American Heritage Month (November), we take the opportunity to look back on MLSA's collaborations with Montana's Tribal Nations. For over 30 years, MLSA has been honored to collaborate with Montana Tribal Nations to provide effective services to Tribal members both in and out of court.

MLSA is a non-profit law firm that empowers low-income people by providing legal information, advice, and other services free of charge, thereby protecting and enhancing the civil legal rights of, and promoting systemic change for, Montanans living in poverty.

The Montana Legal Services Association (MLSA) thanks you for viewing our website. For over 45 years, MLSA has provided free civil legal aid to thousands of Montanans living in poverty. MLSA’s dedicated advocates achieve safety for domestic violence survivors and children, prevent illegal evictions and foreclosures, help families access health care, inform those struggling with debts about their rights, protect public benefits for the basic needs of people without other resources, and more.

Although pro bono benefits the community, Ms. Lucas says she feels just as rewarded about the experience as those she has helped. “I think it’s important to remember that providing pro bono services is not only beneficial to those who are served, it is personally rewarding.
