Description
The musical union of Ron Crites and Bill Sturm at this point in time in 2010 is no chance occurrence. The two men have been friends for over three decades, watching each other's families grow up and staying in close contact over the years. Life has a way of separating the paths of close friends in the context of the professions they choose and the "choices they make"..more about this later. Such was the case with these two friends who did share the same passion for one thing..MUSIC. Ron came from a family of 19 siblings! He idolized his father who inspired him at an early age and fueled Ronnie's musical interests. His dad built a electric fiddle and entered 33 fiddling contests ; winning them all but one which he lost to his brother. The seed he planted in Ron's heart led Ron to become a full time performing musician for his whole life. Ron is now a multi talented, highly focused professional who has earned the respect and accolades of musicians, singers, songwriters, and performers from coast to coast. Brad Paisely having heard Ron on Carnival Cruise Lines, invited Ron to perform at his Fan Fair Club Party and introduced him to attendees there as his personal favorite singer. There is a reason. Ron has a "gift", as he calls it, to sound like George Jones with an uncanny resemblance in style. He reveres George and his music, respects him highly and realizes that a voice like his is one in tens of millions. That's why he refers to his ability as a gift. One of George's ex-wives approached Ron and told him that "he sounded more like her former husband than he did". More than this however is the fact that Ron is also a phenomenal guitarist/musician, a prolific writer, and a man with a keen wit. His humor is unparalleled and he can win over a room, a concert hall, or folks in a check-out line in an instant. His buddy Bill, on the other hand, after many years of practice in emergency medicine and urgent and teaching has reunited with his best friend to get reacquainted with his own love of music. They are currently putting together a George Jones Tribute Show with Ron in character as George. It promises to be a head turner that will amaze listeners and make all who see it smile from coast to coast. The two have also developed what they refer to as The Americana Duo because they feature fantastic treatments of tunes that represent everything American from Blues, to Country, to Bluegrass, to Folk, to Western Swing, to Oldies Rock and all points in between. Together they sound like six to eight pieces with the equipment they use. Nothing is pre-recorded or tracked, everything is "live." Ron uses Ketron equipment which offers up 470 instruments through midi application. Bill plays bass, percussion, and finger style guitar. Both men are accomplished singers. Don't miss a chance to see and hear these great musicians. As Ron says..." We ain't cheap but we're darn reasonable "
