I founded The Tenth Muse in 1996 in Eugene, Oregon and began presenting fabricated one of a kind pieces. After working nearly three years for Blue Moon Jewelry Design, and with inspiration and support from my mentors, I was encouraged to see if I could make it on my own, designing and bringing to life any whimsies I could dream up. Since then, I have traveled throughout the northwest, venturing as far east as Las Vegas, to show my creations at renaissance fairs, art shows, and music festivals enjoying people and their response to my jewelry. I am a northwest native, born and educated in Oregon. Thanks to a large number of fantastic teachers, I made it through school with my sense of wonder intact. I want to believe that people would rather have something special; a piece of jewelry that is just for them, rather than something that was mass-produced somewhere on the other side of the world. With that in mind, I go into my studio to create unique and unusual pieces. I studied in design at a private college in Portland Oregon and I use what I learned there to fuse elements and images from the past with a modern aesthetic. I am a self-taught jeweler and have had some instruction in how to cut and polish my own gemstones. I am always in the process of learning more about he art that has become such a large part of my life. I also create wings, headpieces and other fanciful items for special occasions such as weddings, fairy gatherings and almost any other costume related whimsy. I currently sell at the Eugene Saturday Market and at art shows all over Oregon. I ship custom pieces all over the world sold from connections through my web site , events I attend and email. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to change and grow. Kate
