For locations outside the Clay Center Public Utility Commission area, Blue Stem Electric Cooperative, Inc. serves the rural electric loads. They purchase all their wholesale power needs from KEPCo. KEPCo’s six percent ownership in the Wolf Creek Nuclear Generating Station and the availability of 110 MW of low-cost hydropower provide consumers with sufficient capacity to meet their energy needs.
