Description
The Alameda Council of Community Mental Health Agencies (ACCMHA)represents twenty-five community-based nonprofit organizations (CBOa s) that provide mental health services to Alameda County residents. Our mission is to provide comprehensive and diverse mental health services that are client and family centered, culturally relevant, intentionally seamless in design, and accessible throughout the human service system. Members provide services to adults, children, and families. Consistent with Californiaa s Short-Doyle Act (1957) mandate for locally administered and controlled community based programs, in Alameda County eighty-five percent of the mental health services for children, and a significant percent of mental health services for adults are provided by Council members. Many culturally and linguistically specialized mental health programs in the county are uniquely available through the Councila s member agencies. ACCMHA member agencies bring the community into the mental health system through their volunteer boards of directors, connections to the communities they serve, and fundraising activities. Council members also bring significant resources to the system through charitable donations and leveraging state and federal funding.
