Since 1857, The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has represented the professional interests of America's architects and, through enhanced collaboration, served the public and clients in innumerable ways. AIA members include some 80,000 licensed architects, emerging professionals and allied partners who promote and practice excellence in design and livability in our nation's buildings and communities. As members, we adhere to a code of ethics and professional conduct reflecting our dedication to the highest standards in professional practice. And we share a common goal of creating healthy, sustainable, and livable communities that help shape your quality of life. Well-served clients, well-designed communities, and added value for your investments, made possible by AIA members. The AIA comprises nearly 300 components, representing members at local, state, and regional levels. The Institute in Washington, D.C., works with these sister organizations to offer services, generate revenues, set policies, undertake initiatives in service to the profession and the public, and advance the profession's and public's interests from Capitol Hill to City Hall.
