S ixty four years ago, John Livaditis was contacted at his Zesto Drive-In on Peachtree Road (across from Brookwood Station) by a man named Dwight Parrish, and offered him a sum of money to sell Christmas trees on his Zesto property. John thought, "wait a minute, if he's that convinced this is a good location to sell Christmas trees, I'm going into the Christmas tree business!" Needles to say, the rest is "histree". John may not have known that his Christmas tree business would grow to become Atlanta's Standard Bearer, but one thing was true - everyone knew that Big John had the very best trees!

Until fairly recently, all Christmas trees came from the forest. * California, Oregon, Michigan, Washington, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and North Carolina are the top Christmas tree producing states. Oregon is the leading producer of Christmas trees - 8.6 million in 1998. * The best selling trees are Fraser fir, Noble fir, Douglas fir, Balsam fir, Blue spruce, Scotch pine and White pine. * More than 2,000 trees are usually planted per acre. On an average 1,000-1,500 of these trees will survive.
