Through the result of all these acquisitions, Southern Bag had expanded both its geographic base and its manufacturing capabilities, thereby becoming one of the leading packaging manufacturers in the United States. Yet, the company still desired to grow and in 2000, its parent company acquired six plastic and paper packaging plants in Canada and one in Tyler, Texas. With over 100 years of bag making experience behind them, the Canadian bag plants provided the technical know-how, product diversity and global reach needed to help make Southern Bag a larger presence in the marketplace.
