The primary purpose of the Roadmap to Reentry is to provide guidance for physicians and physician assistants (PA) seeking to navigate the reentry process. In addition, the Roadmap aims to provide valuable information for stakeholders to support and facilitate their work with reentry clinicians. The Roadmap to Reentry may also serve as a tool to facilitate a coordinated approach across these diverse sectors and to create a common language and a shared understanding of the process.

How CPEP’s services can provide proactive support to return physicians to safe clinical practice, retain physicians in their communities, and return physicians to practice after a period of clinical inactivity. This presentation will provide an update on CPEP’s services and impact – including research on the success of our educational programs. We have been giving this talk to MECs at the major hospitals and they have responded quite positively – many MEC members were not aware of all the services we provide and of the research we now have on the outcomes for our program services.

Few situations within a healthcare organization can be as difficult or potentially disruptive as when quality of care is questioned. The stakes are high for the clinician, the organization where he/she practices, and patients. For more than 20 years, healthcare professionals have trusted CPEP’s Competence Assessment Program to provide in-depth information about the current competence and educational needs of clinicians, as well as to identify effective solutions to address performance concerns.

CPEP, the Center for Personalized Education for Physicians, offers nationally-renowned competence assessment and educational intervention programs for physicians and other healthcare professionals. Other services include ethics and boundaries, communication, and medical record keeping courses. CPEP is dedicated to improving the quality of patient care and promoting patient safety.
