Phlebotomy Learning Center of Denver offers choices to students regarding their phlebotomy and healthcare training. However we have specific Entrance requirements that apply to students attending any of our courses or programs. - - -If they do not have a high school diploma or GED from the United States or if English is their second language prospective students must pass the WBST English basic skills test given by PLC of Denver prior to admittance into any program other than CPR and First Aid. They must pass the WBST test with a score of level three and grade level eleven in order to be accepted into the certification programs and courses. Students must also show competency in English conversation. Phlebotomy is a career where students must have excellent command of the English language. Phlebotomists deal with patients as well as other medical professionals and are required to communicate effectively every day. It is up to the discretion of the administration to admit or deny a student based on competency and ability. We will not accept a student into the program if we feel that language difficulty may be a detriment to either passing the course or the classroom experience as a whole, as well as a detriment to externship and/or employment. -Students must turn in an application and participate in an application interview to be considered for the Phlebotomy Certification program or the Medical Terminology program. This is done by appointment only. Students may apply online and then make an appointment, by phone, to submit their payment and complete their interview. -to hold a space in any certification program (i.e. Phlebotomy Certification). -Payment in full is required at the time of enrollment for the ASPT National Certification Exam two weeks prior to the start date and enrolled in the ASPT Exam 60 days prior to the exam date. - -Students must have the physical ability and emotional maturity to perform the duties and procedures of phlebotomy. This may be discussed at the application interview. Final determination of a student’s acceptance into any program or course is the responsibility and at the discretion of the Director or Administrator. - -Students who have a medical condition which may affect them or cause illness during class must also disclose this information prior to the start date of any program or course in case of emergency. (These include but are not limited to: diabetes, heart condition, epilepsy or seizure disorder or anything that can case an emergency on a daily basis). -Students who are pregnant must disclose this to the Director or Administrator prior to admissions to any program or course. Pregnant women are excused from having venipunctures performed on them but must provide a volunteer (friend or family member) that is willing to have venipunctures performed on them in place of the student. -Students must provide emergency contact information for at least 3 individuals, not living with the student, in the case of emergency, non-payment of tuition and fees and if they are funded by a government agency, for post graduate tracking information.
