In 1872, the Churchill family hosted their first guests at the inn that they had built on the western slope of the Green Mountains beside a crystal-clear brook. Many folks would come from "the other side of the mountain" to have their grain milled, their horses stabled, and then enjoy a hearty supper followed by a night of dancing. Early in the morning hours they would retire to bed and awaken to country breakfasts several hours later. While the grist mill and stables are gone, the friendly hospitality and inviting atmosphere (if not the ballroom upstairs) have remained constant for over a century.Today, the Churchill House Inn welcomes guests from all over the United States and the world beyond. Its relaxed atmosphere takes you back to a less complicated time with good friends, great food, and the innkeepers' unique blend of international and old-time New England charm.
