The City Council of Fate is seeking volunteers to apply for the soon to be created Charter Commission. The purpose of the Charter Commission is to formulate a proposed Home-Rule Charter to ultimately be submitted to the voters of the City at a future date. The City of Fate is, or will soon be, over 5,000 in population. Under Texas law, a City can elect to have home-rule governance once this population is reached. Those interested in being considered to serve on the Charter Commission should expect to have frequent meetings to discuss, and ultimately formulate, a proposed Home-Rule Charter to be submitted to the voters. The City Council will be accepting Applications up until December 31, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. Any interested citizens must fill out an Application form which can be obtained at the City Secretary's Office or on the City's web site (HERE).
