COREFOCAL INVOLVEMENT In connection with providing tax preparation services to clients, RAV has historically hired and trained seasonal staff to assist in the preparation of tax returns. The annual "hiring and training" process required a significant amount of time to be expended each year by RAV professionals prior to the tax return preparation season. By engaging CoreFocal to assist in the preparation of tax returns, RAV professionals no longer had to worry about recruiting, hiring, training and supervising temporary seasonal staff. As a result, RAV professionals were able to spend less time on the actual process of preparing tax returns and more time with their clients. The organization serve teens in poverty, primarily at risk in-school and out-of-school youth. In addition to mentoring youth so they stay in high school and earn a diploma, Y.O.U. offers job placement services for part-time and summer positions that reinforce the importance of academic success and skills. In 2008, 83% of the youth in Y.O.U programs graduated from high school. In 2009, Y.O.U.'s summer job program identified employment opportunities for nearly 3,000 high school students. HOW COREFOCAL ASSISTS In order for Y.O.U. to expend more of its resources on serving youth and less on infrastructure activities, CoreFocal has been hired to provide general accounting, financial statement preparation, accounts payable and bill paying services, and preparation of monthly grant billings to federal, state and local governmental funders. In addition, CoreFocal attends Y.O.U.'s monthly finance committee to assist in the presentation of the monthly financial statements to members of Y.O.U.'s governing board.
